Update: iOS 17 is now rolling out to all eligible devices, though it may take a few minutes to show up for all users.
First announced in June at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 are Apple's next-generation operating systems for iPhone and iPad. Developers and public beta testers have spent the past few months trying out the new versions while Apple has been refining them, and a full public release is coming soon.
iOS 17 includes new features for Phone, FaceTime, and Messages, along with small improvements for other apps and an all-new app that's coming later this year for journaling. Among other updates, iPadOS 17 adds a new Lock Screen experience that mirrors the updated Lock Screen Apple brought to the iPhone with iOS 16, including customizations and widgets.
