Siri AI Waitlist Now Limited to Times of 'High Demand,' Says Apple

Siri AI IconApple has largely stopped making users join a waitlist to access its Siri AI assistant. According to an updated Apple support document, Siri AI "will begin to download automatically" once users opt in, but the waitlist is now reserved "during time of high demand," and wait times can vary.

The document previously said that enabling the assistant "will add you to a waitlist," as noted by 9to5Mac. The document was updated on November 2, likely following two months of Apple testing server load. Released in September, Siri AI remains in beta across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro.

It’s not like they’re missing out. Siri is still hot garbage. It takes too long, doesn’t understand context, and can’t dictate worth a damn. My favorite thing is it telling me that a group chat doesn’t exist, even when it was just conversing with it 30 seconds prior.

I wish I could just replace it with grok, but until then I’ll just use it less and less.

All I want from Siri is a way to search all of the files on my computer using some sort of natural spoken language. It should not be hard to say, please find a PowerPoint from a meeting or I lectured sometime between 2022 and 2024 that was called new therapies.

That was kind of the thing that Apple touted it could do, as I recall. I have not seen any evidence so far that Siri AI is capable of successfully and reliably doing it yet, though. It's a very imperfect technology.

I had high hopes for it (why, I don't know) when I installed macOS Golden Gate, but the performance and search results (so far) have not justified my faith in the concept touted by Apple. They still have a long way to go.
