Apple this year acquired Ascend.io, a California-based company that developed technology to help businesses automate the collection and analysis of data, and more recently introduced AI agents to help engineers manage this data.
The acquisition was revealed in a notice posted on the European Commission's website today, and Ascend.io's own website mentions "winding down operations as we prepare for our next great adventure."
More like making a common-sense inference versus jumping to conclusions, I would say.
Are you just jumping to the conclusion that this is going to be used for personal/customer data? Companies generate and work from massive and often disparate datasets which relate to their own operational data too.

Privacy 😐
These companies have been harvesting so much data with little to no consent from customers that now it needs AI to sort and manage that data. Bewildering, how about purge the data after a couple years so it doesn’t become compromised or just not collect it. Apple; Privacy 🙄
Speak for yourself. I've always known that any survey asking for personal information would be entirely to the benefit of the organisation asking and none whatsoever to me.
This all began with all of those dumb Facebook surveys people so gleefully filled out years ago. No harm or foul; none of us knew at the time, but none of this is anything resembling a positive development, IMO.
