Apple Increases Battery Replacement Fee for iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max

deep black iphone 18 proIn the U.S., Apple is charging a higher $129 out-of-warranty fee to replace the battery in an iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max compared to previous models, according to its website.

Apple has always charged $119 to replace the battery in iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro models, so the fee has increased by $10 for the iPhone 18 Pro models, which have larger batteries. If your iPhone has AppleCare+ coverage, though, Apple will replace the battery for no extra charge if its capacity has dropped below 80%. You can check this in the Settings app under Battery → Battery Health.

But since the iPhone 18 Pro is even easier to repair ('https://www.macrumors.com/2026/09/10/iphone-18-pro-eu-repair-rating/') and lithium ion batteries are getting cheaper ('https://ourworldindata.org/battery-price-decline'), why the price increase?
Shareholder profits. They don’t care about users.

Ironic considering the batteries are easier to replace than older models because of the electrically bonding adhesive.

Soon they will be $200 to replace which will make people rethink keeping their devices for longer. Smart move by Apple.
