Why do people still use crappy screen protectors? I have never ever had a scratch in my glass and I'm on my 5th iPhone or so. Without a case.

It’s not only about scratches. The screen protector acts as a sacrifice layer when you happen to drop your phone. It’s a cheaper insurance compare to apple care. Also please use high quality glass.

I bought an Apple case for $50 and it peeled and fell apart in 2 years.
Then I bought a generic case on eBay for $4.
2 years has elapsed, and it's in original condition. $4.

Not buying the Duo. I would always go for Spigen cases. There are many third party cases that are good.

As far as I can tell, it's just two separate magnetic pieces of protection, leaving the hinge exposed when closed. And it's $129 + state tax

Brain Tong and AppleInsider showed off the Folio in their recent videos and it does indeed have some sort of elastic cover that offers protection for the hinge and keeps the front and back pieces connected together.
