The iPhone Duo will be available on October 23, so iOS 27.1 should be released shortly before that date. Last year, iOS 26.1 didn't come out until November 3, but we're expecting iOS 27.1 about two weeks earlier.

iOS 27.1 will include updated app layouts built for the iPhone Duo's dual displays and its new vertical dock.

The iPhone 18 Pro models will ship with ‌iOS 27‌ and are set to launch on September 18, so the iPhone Duo is coming just over a month later. ‌iOS 27‌ will launch on September 14.

Apple will accept pre-orders for the iPhone Duo on October 16, a week ahead of the October 23 launch.

When selling oversees Apple has additional costs for things like currency exchange fluctuations, higher retail costs and compliance with differing regulations.

I suspect most of that is a buffer to protect from exchange rate swings. But things like differing regulations come at a cost and Apple is a business and isn’t just going to eat that.
Also there’s the increased costs of providing 2 year warranties and more consumer protections.

At time of writing £1 = £1.37 US dollars. Taking the VAT at 20% off the price off the the UK price of £1999 it would be £1665.83. In dollars this would be $2,256.32. However depending on which state you purchase your phone it’s still cheaper in the US. The only time it would be more expensive if sales tax was greater than 12%. Yet again Apple appears to be overpricing in the UK.

Good to know. Looks like it is very possible for some of the Duos to require a day one update since many of them would already have been manufactured and ready to ship.
