New HomePod Mini, Apple TV, and More Coming Soon

A new HomePod mini, a new Apple TV, and an all-new Apple smart home hub are all coming soon, following years of rumors, according to a new report.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said Apple's stores are preparing changes to the shelves that will display the trio of new products.

All three devices will likely be unveiled this September or October.

HomePod Mini

The next HomePod mini will reportedly support at least some Siri AI and Apple Intelligence features when connected to a compatible iPhone. Other previously-rumored features for the speaker include Apple's N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, improved sound quality, a newer Ultra Wideband chip, and a red color option for the first time.

The current HomePod mini was released all the way back in 2020.

Apple TV

According to rumors, the next-generation Apple TV 4K will have at least five new features, including an A17 Pro chip or newer, increased RAM, Siri AI support, an Apple-designed N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, and an updated Siri Remote.

The current Apple TV 4K from 2022 has an A15 Bionic chip.

Apple Home Hub

Siri AI is expected to be a core feature of the home hub, which is designed to be placed in rooms throughout your house, such as a kitchen, living room, or bedroom. The device will reportedly be available in tabletop and wall-mounted versions, with Apple apparently believing that many customers will buy more than one.

The hub will reportedly combine a HomePod-like speaker with a 7-inch display, and it is expected to have an entirely new homeOS operating system based on the Apple TV's tvOS platform. The interface has been described as tvOS blended with watchOS and iOS. There will be a grid of app icons, widgets, and customizable clock faces.

With built-in facial recognition, the hub can reportedly identify who is looking at the display and show personalized information. As a user approaches the hub, or moves away from it, the size of the interface elements will change.

Other rumored features include FaceTime video calls, home security monitoring, HomeKit accessory management, photo galleries, a calendar, music playback, and an intercom system for households with multiple Apple home devices.
