I don't understand these....Why

Small Ones: Way more expensive then a traditional APC UPS dollar per WH

Big ones: you can buy a generator that runs for 12 hours on 2 gallons of gas at half the cost
Good luck running a generator in an apartment to run your fridge in a power outage. Also good luck running your generator in a campground or anywhere where other people wanna sleep or just enjoy their day. Also much easier to throw a Anker solix in your car and use it to run a few work tools at a site compared to getting a generator in your car, have it stink up the car with gasoline fumes and then having noise at the worksite. If you need a lot of power for a long time a generator is way better. if you need quiet power for a few hours to run some stuff then the 2KWh powerstations are the sweet spot.

I picked up an Anker solid c2000 at half off and it is perfect for running my mini fridge in powerless, toss it in the back of my vehicle and take it camping, etc. solar panel hookup to it charges it quickly. It’s a bit more than 1 kWh in size and it’s plenty enough for my uses

Solar generators are quiet and don't have any exhaust; can be used indoors.
It took a few years but mine has finally payed for itself.
I can cool my work shed all summer quietly without paying the utility or buying fuel.
And I have quiet backup power when the utility does go down all year.

In my old house and with my health problems, the batteries work better. I took advantage of past sales and have set up a 6kwh system that works as a UPS for the computers + router, and will keep the fridge going for quite a while. Spouse's CPAP is covered too. Everything's in place so I don't have to lug a generator back and forth in an outage. It just kicks on and works.

I live in a place where the electricity is reliable but there's always one or two days during storm season when the power goes out for 4-8 hours. The batteries have made a huge difference for us.

It would be nice to have a gas generator as a backup. I just don't think I could lug it around very well. Thinking about getting one of the $300 car inverter kits as a relatively easy way to recharge the batteries without having to deal with a separate generator.

Have a look at the inverter generators in the 1800-2000 watt range. Cheap: Predator at Harbor Freight or Ryobi.
More spendy of course: Honda. Easy to move with one hand.

I have a Honda EU7000is genny that is split phase 120/240 but nowadays they are $5k or more.
An ICE generator that is fuel injected- Who would have thought such a thing was common 20 years ago?
Harbor Freight just dropped the Predator 4200 Super Quiet Inverter generator, weighing in at 65 pounds. Yeah, it's heavy to carry around with one hand, but doable, and 37 pounds lighter than the 3500. They also have a 2000 Watt @ 49 pounds and a 2500 Watt @ 46 pounds.
