More Apple aluminum means more magical/special/superior aluminum to many... like magical Apple RAM and Apple SSD is far different & superior to off-the-shelf RAM & SSD priced far lower for same capacities. If you don't have Apple aluminum, you don't have good aluminum. ;)

Getting more of this special Apple aluminum should easily justify another $100+ on the price. "Another record quarter" needs the added revenue. It all "just work$$$"

Doesn't matter how they advertise, sad thing is, that even with the worst explanation/made up excuse every, many people will swallow and - even worse - defend/justify the decision.
Or even worse, buy the product. If you believe this is a step down, vote with your $$$.

There is nothing MEDIOCRE in iPhone camera today.
For normal users, I would include software processing as part of "iPhone camera" and that is very much mediocre.

To me it honestly ruins a lot of photos with totally overdoing it

It'd be great if Apple allowed tweaking of that for stock Camera App users (that vast vast majority I'm sure)
