iOS 18.2 is Out and Lets You Create Your Own Emoji
One of the new Apple Intelligence features introduced with iOS 18.2 is Genmoji, which lets you quickly create your own custom emoji.
AI-generated emoji can be created with text prompts like "smiley relaxing wearing cucumbers" or "t-rex wearing a tutu on a surfboard."
"Make a brand-new Genmoji right in the keyboard to match any conversation," said Apple. "Provide a description to see a preview, and adjust your description until it's perfect. You can even pick someone from your Photos library and create a Genmoji that looks like them."
Genmoji are not Unicode characters like the default set of emoji, but they play friendly with Apple devices. Just like emoji, Genmoji can be added in line to messages, shared as a sticker, or used as a Tapback reaction in the Messages app.
iOS 18.2 was released today following more than six weeks of beta testing. The update is compatible with the iPhone XS and newer, but you will need an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model to use Genmoji, as it is an Apple Intelligence feature. Genmoji is also available on iPadOS 18.2 on any iPad with an M-series chip or the A17 Pro chip, and it will be coming to macOS Sequoia in the coming months.
