iPhone 16 Models Getting an All-New Button With These Features
Apple is set to unveil the iPhone 16 series on Monday, and all four models are widely rumored to feature an all-new camera-related button.
The incoming iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max are all expected to be equipped with a so-called "Capture" or "Camera" button on the bottom-right side of the devices, below the power button.
To accommodate this new button, the existing mmWave 5G antenna window on the bottom-right side of recent iPhone models sold in the U.S. is expected to be moved to the bottom-left side of the device, under the volume buttons.
Functionality
The button is expected to be similar to a shutter button on a high-end DSLR camera, with swipe controls and pressure sensitivity.
Here is everything you can do with the button, according to rumors:
- Light press on the button to autofocus while capturing a photo or video
- Press harder on the button to take a photo
- Swipe left and right on the button to zoom in and out, or switch between photo and video
Meanwhile, the Action button that debuted on iPhone 15 Pro models last year is expected to be available on all four iPhone 16 models. The lower-end iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models still have a single-purpose Ring/Silent switch.
