Mac Studio: What to Know
Apple last updated the Mac Studio with the M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips at its annual developers conference WWDC in June 2023. Other new features included support for Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and high-impedance headphones.
A new Mac Studio with at least one higher-end M4 chip variant will be released "around the middle" of 2025, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Based on this timeframe, it seems most likely that Apple will announce the next Mac Studio at WWDC 2025 next June.
With a higher-end M4 chip, the Mac Studio will get much faster and gain hardware-accelerated ray tracing for graphics. M4 chips are also rumored to have a faster and more efficient Neural Engine for artificial intelligence tasks. In addition, Gurman said the next Mac Studio could support up to 512GB of RAM, up from the current limit of 192GB.
No other major upgrades or design changes have been rumored for the next Mac Studio yet.
