Details about the upcoming games and updates can be found in the Apple Newsroom announcement on Apple's website.

Launched in November 2019, Apple Arcade is a subscription-based gaming service accessible through the App Store. Priced at $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year in the U.S., the service provides subscribers with access to nearly 300 games across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. All games on Apple Arcade are free of ads and in-app purchases.

Apple Arcade is included for three months for free with the purchase of a new Apple device, such as the new iPhone 15 models. Apple says this offer is available for first-time subscribers and "qualified" returning subscribers.

No ads, no in-app purchases.

What do people expect for 5 bucks a month?

Apple has been pushing gaming for a decade, and the push will only get harder with Vision Pro.

Expect this to have different tiers, eventually, for better games.

And expect Apple to start buying small game companies. They are not going to let gaming escape them anymore. It's too important for growth.

Xbox Game Pass is $11 a month and has over 400 games with 5-10 added bimonthly, support streaming on your phone, and offers deep discounts if you wish to purchase said game

Nintendo Switch Online is $20 a year and has a catalog of hundreds of old Nintendo games from the NES to the N64

$5 a month for what is primarily remasters of mobile games we played 10 years ago is not that good an offer when compared to others. There's a reason Apple doesn't want Xbox Game Pass on the App Store.

Yes pushing gaming by essentially destroying Mac gaming with Mojave depreciating OpenGL and forcing everyone to use Metal, and Catalina killing 32 bit app support making the long catalog of Mac games no longer playable, which in turn caused a mass developer exodus.

It's gonna take a lot more than a few ports to convince people that Apple is actually serious about gaming especially after a long history of talking down the game industry. Friendly reminder under oath during Apple vs Epic Tim Cook said he didn't know who Valve was or what Steam was, DESPITE INVITING THEM AS KEY SPEAKERS DURING WWDC 2016!

Yeah that ain't happening lmao. Apple ain't gonna start buying developers and publishers like Microsoft and Sony does no matter how much you want them to. They only buy startups that help them with R&D for bigger projects, with the only major acquisitions they did being NeXT to get the NeXTSTEP OS as the framework for Mac OS X and to get Steve Jobs back, and Beats by Dre to get their audio engineers to create the first AirPods.
