Twitter today announced the official rollout of its new Quote Tweets feature, which is designed to make tweets about a tweet easier to located.

twitterquotetweets
Twitter is now calling retweets with comments Quote Tweets, and Quote Tweets are now visible when tapping into a tweet and selecting the "Quote Tweets" option to see all quoted replies in one spot.

Viewing Quote Tweets shows the original tweet along with the commentary, and photos, videos, and GIFs are included.

Before implementing the new Quote Tweet feature, these kinds of tweet replies were treated as regular tweets, which could make it harder for the original creator to view and respond to replies. The new Quote Tweets feature is available on Twitter on iPhone and iPad.

What is this twitter of which you speak?
A social media platform some people feign ignorance of to signal that their time on the internet is better spent than others.

Couldn’t they add an option where you can disable the quote tweet option? Though I have to say if your account is public and especially if your a blue check mark you should allow replies and quote tweets.
This would be pointless, because you can always take a screenshot of the tweet, and then tweet that.

Quote-tweeting is a better option for the person being quoted because they have the option of deleting the original tweet, and this would make the quoted version go away too, unlike a screenshot which the quoted person has no control over. It's also better for everyone in general because screenshots aren't friendly to visually impaired people using screen readers, making he tweet inaccessible.

Disabling quote-tweeting would encourage screenshotting, which is why I suspect Twitter hasn't done it.

I know a lot of people hate quote tweets because they think it allows people to do snarky replies to a tweet rather than engaging. Twitter has features now where you can limit who can reply to your tweets or turn off replies all together. Couldn’t they add an option where you can disable the quote tweet option? Though I have to say if your account is public and especially if your a blue check mark you should allow replies and quote tweets.

Would it work that way? It doesn't seem that's how it works in other places where quoting is used, like even these very forums, for example.
