I got my wife the 2018 version of this exact config. She was nervous about it only having 8GB of RAM too, but she hasn't had a single problem with its performance. The storage was a bit of a pain to get under, but we did it.

Junk keyboards. Stay, far, far away.
Define "junk" keyboards. I have a early '13 MBA 256gb model that's my daily driver. NEVER had a keyboard issue. Is the new MBA keyboards different from my '13 model. I think I'll hightail it down to Best Buy and try out the keyboard. My standard rule for buying ANY computer and I'm going back 30 years) is to check the keyboard first and then the display 2nd.
