RIP, CarPlay 2?

Apple's website continues to state that the first vehicle models with next-generation CarPlay will "arrive in 2024." With less than three days remaining in the year, however, that timeframe is looking more and more unlikely. It would not be entirely Apple's fault if the stated 2024 target is missed, given that it is ultimately up to automakers to roll out the software in vehicles, but it is...

Would be nice if we had more choice of internet. Anytime I'm enticed by stories like this, I'm quickly snapped back to the reality that no matter what I do for my television watching, I'm beholden to Comcast for my internet, and then I just forget about it. The bad part is, Comcast's internet is the worst... I constantly need to reset my modem, speeds are blazingly fast one day and crawling the next, they inundate me with sales calls even though I'm under contract and have no desire to add/remove services, and they refuse to let me stream to the Apple TV. I don't care if they make me lease their equipment, at least give me the option to use something else while I lease the box.

Instead of innovating, their solution is to constantly raise rates as they bleed subscribers. If I had other options for broadband, I'd gladly ditch them. /end rant.

Altice bought our reasonable and decent local Cable provider (Optimum) a few years ago and have been on an insane price hiking binge ever since.

Altice can suck it, I don't care what service they offer.

It’s a happy day because this is something you and I agree on 100%. Comcast really has us by the you-know-whats.

Not sure what you are saying? You can not use your Apple TV?
There is no Xfinity/Comcast app for Apple TV, and you can't use Airplay from the Xfinity apps to stream to the ATV.

Cable networks are "communal", in that everybody in your neighborhood shares the same pipe, so during peak times, things slow down.

This is different from ADSL, Fiber and LTE connections that have a direct path further into the network. Even though ADSL may have less bandwidth, it's also far more consistent. Are you sure Comcast is your only option? Here in my area (BC, Canada), I can choose cable, ADSL, Fiber or LTE. It's really evolved lately. I've got LTE at my home and office locations now.

As for the modem slowing down, that's a known issue with cable modems, but not all of them. If you can figure out the type of cable modem, you can buy your own and use it. ISP cable modems can be garbage.

Your poorly written article might want to mention that this service is only available in three states: CT, NJ, and NY. Completely useless for the 47 out of 50 states in America.
