Twitter today announced that it plans to stop supporting the Twitter for Mac app in order to focus its attention on a "great Twitter experience that's consistent across all platforms.

Starting today, the Twitter for Mac app is no longer available for download, and in 30 days, Twitter plans to stop supporting it all together.

Twitter says to get a "full Twitter experience on Mac," customers should visit Twitter on the web.

Twitter for Mac has never never received a lot of attention from Twitter. In 2015, the company announced plans to refocus its efforts on building new features into its Mac app after providing only sporadic updates over the last several years, but even after adding new features, the app was largely unpopular with Twitter users, earning only 1 and a half stars out of five in the App Store.

In recent months, Twitter has also been streamlining its apps. The discontinuation of the official Mac app follows Twitter's decision to remove the Twitter for Apple Watch app last September.

Twitter for Mac users who are looking for a desktop app experience rather than a web interface can use a third-party app such as Tweetbot or Twitterrific.

Twitter is a waste of time. It's a place for people to act on instinct rather than a deeper reflection.

The new app better be in chronological order like this one is!!

The algorithm is HORRIBLE. No one likes it.

I love using the twitter mac app on my computer because everything is in chronological order, just how twitter is supposed to be, and unlike how it is on the IOS app.

Pleaseeeeeee stay in chronological order!!!

Is tweetbot in chronological order? I only want to use a twitter app that doesnt run on horrible algorithms!

Thanks
