iPhone X handsets make up over 2 percent of the iPhone active installed base, just three weeks after it was released on November 3, according to research conducted by IHS Markit. The countries with the highest rates of adoption are markets with high gross domestic product per head, like Singapore, Denmark, Switzerland, and Japan.

According to IHS, countries where "Plus" models have been popular show a strong correlation with initial adoption rates for iPhone X, because consumers in those markets are more interested in larger displays and dual-lens camera technology, and are willing to spend more to get them.

Production constraints appear to have had little effect on early uptake of iPhone X, which is said to be "very similar" to adoption of previous flagship iPhones launches over the same period, said IHS analysts.

In the US, iPhone X adoption after three weeks matched the adoption of iPhone 8 Plus and beat early adoption levels for both the iPhone 8 and 7 Plus. Only the iPhone 7 model had greater initial success. In Japan, initial iPhone X adoption was as good as or better than any recent iPhone launch, and matched the level of the iPhone 7.

Apple is set to enjoy its best ever year for iPhone, according to IHS, with year-on-year increases in iPhone shipments over the next four quarters. In the fourth quarter of 2017, IHS Markit forecasts Apple will ship 88.8 million iPhones, which would be the highest number of iPhones ever to be shipped in a single quarter.

Shipping 31 million iPhone X units would cause the iPhone average selling price (ASP) to exceed US$700 for the first time in the iPhone's 10-year history, assuming total shipments in the quarter amount to 88.8 million.

Shipping estimates for the iPhone X continue to improve in many countries. In the United States, iPhone X models ordered today will arrive in just about a week, while several European stores list delivery dates of December 12. In line with IHS Markit's analysis, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo earlier claimed that improved iPhone X shipping estimates are due to better-than-expected improvements in production, rather than a lack of demand for the new device.

Managed to get it on launch Day. I upgraded from iPhone 7 and I'm totally impressed with X. Face-ID works perfectly and swipe gesture's are much easier to use.

I’ve had mine since launch day, but have yet to see one in person. And most who see mine say it’s the first one they have seen.
I’m with you guys on this (I’m in Australia). The only other X I’ve seen in the wild is owned by my brother!

Hands down best iPhone ever though. It’s a joy to use and I haven’t loved an iPhone this much since the original (and maybe the 4). Apple knocked this one out of the park.

It’s a nice enough phone with some design compromises I'm not personally a fan of and about twice as expensive as I think it should be. I prefer my SE, and if that didn’t exist I’d probably have got an 8. I did like the X more in person than looking at it online though, so I agree that the more people who see one, the better it will do.

IMHO I don’t even look at the Plus iPhones as phones, more like mini tablets that happen to be able to make phonecalls.

Yes... it’s a fantastic phone with fantastic user experience... leaps and bounds beyond anything else on the market today.

Everyone I show the phone to stare at it like if it was a giant diamond. The more people see it in person, the more sales will explode.

Seeing as its the first new form factor since the 6, I'm not completely surprised. But I saw the 6 in the wild on launch day. I still haven't seen a X in the wild.
You might try looking in cities instead of the wild. I’ve seen a lot of iPhone Xs around the Washington DC area...

The arguments of this being the greatest iPhone ever are moot, as every year they come out with the greatest iphone ever.

Find it odd that this is really the first iPhone that everyone claims is so great, yet it comes with too many compromises for the asking price. The only other time you had to upgrade and deal with a losing something was the 7 with loss of headphone jack.

I haven't jumped on this phone because I don't want to give up stuff when I shouldn't have to sacrifice anything when UPGRADING to their flagship device. Maybe lots of others who haven't upgraded feel precisely the same way, and they don't want to spend about $1400 to compromise.

This phone has not put apple ahead in terms of anything except face ID. Other phones have had what this phone does 3 years ago. iPhone X has somewhat closed the gap of how much apple was trailing other phone manufacturers.

I know lots of iPhone users and none of them have upgraded, although they do have the means to. But that doesn't mean anything. That is just a factual statement in my experience and I do not claim anything as to whether or not the phone is selling well. I'm sure it is doing just fine.
