While we're on the topic of cool geektoys many of us can't afford... it'd be worth taking a look at Xybernaut/Microvision's wearable display. PCWorld has an article about this new technology.
Wearable computers have been around for a while, but what's interesting here is the display technology itself. This display uses "a low power laser to 'paint' a full-color high-resolution image directly onto the retina of a users's eye."
So, what do you see? An image that "appears to float several feet in front of you, and doesn't block your vision." Cool...
